Expanded Executive and Advisor Team, including Jim DiCarlo, Dan Yamins and Stephen Wolfram, will Accelerate Development of Precision Therapies for Brain Disorders and Cognitive Enhancement

BOSTON and GENEVA, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Read/Write Labs™, a research and technology company working at the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence, has expanded its executive team and advisors to further its mission of developing an industry-first AI platform to write code for the brain. Formerly known as Dandelion Science, the company’s new identity reflects its focus on creating the intelligence layer that can read and write information to the brain through various neural interfaces to treat a wide range of disorders and improve cognition. The company is also exploring how to leverage recent discoveries in biological intelligence to inform the development of more human-centered AI systems.

Three distinguished scientific fellows and advisors – Jim DiCarlo, Dan Yamins and Stephen Wolfram – join a team led by co-founders Adam Hanina, CEO, and Chief Scientific Officer Martin Schrimpf, the creator of the industry-standard Brain-Score and leader of the NeuroAI Lab at EPFL. These experts bring together decades of experience in computational neuroscience, artificial intelligence, brain-inspired computing, and computational mathematics.

  • Professor James DiCarlo, MD/PhD, External Scientific Fellow: DiCarlo explores how the brain transforms visual information into meaningful representations of the world as an MIT professor of systems and computational neuroscience. His research on biological vision creates important machine-executable scientific models of how the brain works, examines how we might use those models to intervene in brain processing for human benefit, and asks how artificial systems might achieve more robust and flexible intelligence.
  • Professor Dan Yamins, PhD, External Scientific Fellow: Yamins is a pioneer in developing artificial intelligence models of the brain and is a professor at Stanford University. He leads research at the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence, investigating how computational models can help explain the neural mechanisms underlying perception and intelligence.
  • Stephen Wolfram, PhD, External Advisor: As the founder and CEO of Wolfram Research and the creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha, and the Wolfram Language, Wolfram has explored how complex systems and behaviors can emerge from simple computational rules, with implications for understanding intelligence, biological systems, and the nature of computation itself.

Read/Write Labs also named Katherine Fairchild as its Chief Technology Officer and Ben Lönnqvist as its Head of NeuroAI. Fairchild was previously Senior Director of AI/ML at Digital Diagnostics, developer of the first FDA-authorized autonomous AI diagnostic system, and recently led engineering at the MIT Siegel Family Quest for Intelligence. Lönnqvist, who holds a PhD in Computational Neuroscience from EPFL, leads the company’s digital brain modeling work. His research has been published at leading AI conferences including ICLR and ICML.

“Artificial intelligence and neuroscience have largely developed along parallel paths; however, we believe the most important breakthroughs ahead will come from bringing these disciplines together in one platform,” said Adam Hanina, co-founder and CEO of Read/Write Labs. “Understanding how the human brain processes information and interacts with the world can help us develop entirely new approaches to both brain health and artificial intelligence. Read/Write Labs works in both directions: using AI to understand and treat the brain, and using the brain to shape AI. I am incredibly excited to see how our expanded team will help us accelerate that vision.”

For brain health, the company develops digital brains – AI models that predict how real brains will respond to sensory or direct neural stimulation. These models make it possible to study brain dysfunction and design treatment candidates in silico. This has the potential to replace much of today’s slow and expensive in vivo testing, making treatment discovery far faster and broader than currently possible.

The same science can reach beyond therapeutics. As leading AI labs head toward public markets and openly lay out the risks of the systems they’re building, Read/Write Labs believes the human brain offers an important and underexplored path for developing AI that is safer and more aligned with human values. Qualities like compassion are difficult to specify through behavior alone: very different internal mechanisms can produce the same caring-looking answers. Rather than relying exclusively on behavioral training and external safeguards, the company is exploring how to use human brain data to test and guide computational systems for AI that are safer and better suited to working alongside people.

“The brain is the most sophisticated example of intelligence we know, and we now have AI models that can predict its inner workings with unprecedented accuracy,” said Martin Schrimpf, Read/Write Labs co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer. “This unlocks two things: writing precise patterns of activity – ‘code’ for the brain – to treat disorders, and building AI that is more deeply aligned with human intelligence and values.”
