Puptqe has been named 2026 Pet Subscription of the Year by the Pet Innovation Awards for its membership program.

The recognition comes one year after Puptqe was named 2025 Pet Retailer of the Year and as the company expands through franchising.

Founded in 2023 in Temecula, California, Puptqe started as a local dog boutique focused on giving dogs and their owners more ways to spend time together. Its membership grew from that community, giving members access to shopping benefits, events, private parties and creating memories with their dogs.

What began locally has since attracted members from across the country. Some use the membership primarily for shopping, while others attend events, visit when traveling or stay connected to the community from outside California.

“The membership has created a place people use for different reasons, but most importantly, it has become a second home for many dogs and their owners,” said Courtney Honda, co-founder of Puptqe. “Near and far, people support each other because of the connection they have through Puptqe. At the center of it is a reminder to celebrate the special bond we have with our dogs.”

That approach is not limited to members. Puptqe applies the same standard to every customer who shops with the company, attends an event or walks through its doors. Hospitality is part of the company’s operating model, with an emphasis on making people and their dogs feel welcomed whether they are visiting for the first time or returning every week.

“It’s part of the Puptqe flywheel effect,” said Slava Borisov, co-founder of Puptqe. “A good experience gives someone a reason to return. They tell their friends, bring new people with them and become part of the community. Word of mouth has been an important part of our growth from the beginning.”

Through building its membership, Puptqe has learned three lessons: recurring revenue requires recurring value, community must go beyond transactions, and retention comes from creating a sense of belonging.

For Puptqe, the larger lesson is that membership is not simply a recurring payment. It is a recurring relationship, supported by the same hospitality standards offered to every Puptqe customer.

Membership is now an important part of the Puptqe franchise model, helping new locations build local relationships, repeat visits and recurring revenue.

Puptqe began franchising in 2026 and plans to open locations in The Woodlands, Texas; Orange County, California; and the Alpharetta, Georgia area beginning in late 2026.
