BTC POWER Fuels Summit Charging’s Rapid NEVI-Backed U.S. Expansion

PR Newswire

Partnership pairs BTC POWER’s BABA-compliant charging technology with Summit’s site-development strategy to build a 17-site, 107-charger pipeline, with the goal of 100 locations by 2028

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — BTC POWER, a leading North American manufacturer of AC and DC EV charging systems, today announced its role as a key technology partner behind Summit Charging’s growing national footprint, including projects awarded under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. Since deepening their relationship in April 2026, the two companies have worked together on the technical specifications, Build America, Buy America (BABA) documentation, and site economics behind Summit’s expanding charging network.

BTC POWER's 320 kW All-In-One (AiO) BABA-compliant charger

Summit Charging currently holds NEVI grant awards for eight sites across Washington, D.C., Texas and California, representing 40 DC fast chargers and 56 charging ports. The company is simultaneously developing four self-funded sites in California (42 chargers, 54 ports) and planning five additional sites in New York and Pennsylvania (25 chargers, 25 ports). Together, the projects make up a current pipeline of 17 sites, 107 chargers and 135 charging ports. The goal is 100 EV charging sites by 2028. Summit Charging identifies appropriate sites and handles planning, funding, development and buildout for EV infrastructure deployment.

BTC POWER’s 320 kW All-In-One (AiO) BABA-compliant charger has played a central role in that growth, with its integrated design and competitive economics helping Summit build stronger business cases for its NEVI applications. BTC POWER’s broad All-In-One DC fast-charging platform (available in 180 kW, 240 kW, and 320 kW configurations) allows Summit to match charger output to the specific power requirements, traffic patterns, and economics of each location. The companies are also increasingly incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into site designs to help manage peak power demand and reduce demand-charge exposure.

“Summit Charging is demonstrating what is possible when you combine the right locations with the right charging technology and business model. They are identifying locations where people already park, shop, work, and travel — and developing those locations into public EV charging destinations,” said Seung June (SJ) Oh, Chief Revenue Officer, BTC POWER. “That is exactly the type of customer and application where BTC POWER’s experience is valuable. We have been developing and deploying public EV charging technology in the United States since 2012, and we understand the equipment, site requirements, and operating challenges that come with building a reliable charging network.”

Rather than evaluating sites solely by traditional gas-station or travel-center criteria, Summit assesses each potential location individually, weighing parking, traffic, accessibility, electrical capacity, nearby competition, customer demographics, and utility infrastructure before selecting equipment and configuration.

“BTC POWER is more than a charger supplier to us. They understand what it takes to turn a location into a viable charging station — from equipment selection and technical requirements to the economics of the project,” said Bruce Lee, Founder and President, Summit Charging.

Lee continued, “Our experience shows that EV charging can be built in many different types of locations. If a business has the right parking, traffic, and customer demand, there may be an opportunity to add EV charging and create a new revenue stream. As we expand across the United States, having a technology partner with the experience and product range of BTC POWER gives us the flexibility to develop each site based on what that location actually needs.”

Summit’s mix of NEVI-funded, self-funded and planned projects underscores a broader shift in the charging industry: EV charging infrastructure is no longer confined to traditional fueling locations. Thousands of U.S. businesses that own the space to accommodate charging infrastructure and experience the level of customer traffic that would warrant its installation can take advantage of more relaxed NEVI funding structures to seek funding and enter the EV charging market. As Summit has discovered, BTC POWER builds the equipment that meets BABA requirements and performs reliably at scale, boasting a 98% uptime.
