Major investment transforms former big-box retail property into an 80,000-square-foot destination and state-of-the-art events center

Eagles Nest Church will celebrate the grand opening of its new permanent home on Sunday, Sept. 6, marking the culmination of an approximately $28 million total investment that has transformed a long-underused Kohl’s property on Holcomb Bridge Road. After sitting vacant for nearly a decade and becoming an unofficial parking area for tractor-trailers, the property is beginning a new chapter as a state-of-the-art, multi-use destination designed to serve the church and broader community seven days a week.

The $28 million redevelopment, inclusive of the initial site acquisition cost and top-to-bottom renovations, has reimagined approximately 80,000 square feet of former retail space into a place where people can work, play, and gather. The facility includes an auditorium with seating for more than 1,000 people, dedicated spaces for children and students, and flexible areas designed to accommodate events ranging from weddings and graduations to conferences, meetings, concerts, corporate trainings, and community gatherings.

The project also brings renewed activity to a prominent Roswell property and establishes the first phase of a broader vision for the approximately 16-acre campus.

“We did not simply see an empty building. We saw possibility,” said Pastor Lee Jenkins, founder and senior pastor of Eagles Nest Church. “This is about taking a space that had gone quiet and giving it a new life and new purpose. We are building a ‘nest’ where people can worship on Sunday, but also a place where this community can come together and celebrate major moments 365 days a year. The opening represents a significant milestone for Eagles Nest Church and a larger redevelopment story about reimagining underused commercial space for expanded purposes. Rather than creating a traditional church campus centered primarily on weekly services, Eagles Nest has transformed a former retail destination into a flexible, multi-use environment designed to remain active throughout the week. The result is a new model for space utilization, community connection, and financial stewardship—creating a year-round gathering destination for Roswell, North Fulton, and the surrounding region.

For Jenkins, a North Fulton resident who has lived in Roswell for almost 25 years, the transformation of the property carries a deep personal connection. He began seeing its potential years before Eagles Nest would ultimately call it home. “For 14 years, we learned that a church is not defined by the building it occupies,” said Jenkins, who spent 25 years as a Wall Street wealth manager and vice president of investments at firms like Morgan Stanley and Raymond James before entering full-time ministry. “This redevelopment has always been central to the Eagles Nest vision. We see this campus becoming an epicenter for how we connect with, serve, and grow alongside our community.”

Eagles Nest Church began in 2012 with a small group gathering in a DoubleTree hotel ballroom. Over the next 14 years, the congregation worshipped in a succession of temporary spaces, including Andretti Karting and Games, a business office park, Phase Family Center, and Centennial High School’s auditorium and gymnasium. On Sept. 6, that journey reaches a defining milestone as Eagles Nest enters the first phase of that vision while advancing opportunities for complementary future development across the larger campus.

“There are moments when faith requires you to move forward,” said Jenkins. “Eagles Nest gives us a greater platform to serve people, strengthen families, and make an even greater impact in the community.”

This fall, Eagles Nest will begin offering its flexible, multi-use spaces for event rentals. Future phases of the campus redevelopment will create opportunities for Class A retail, dining, and family-oriented uses, along with a daycare partner, further positioning the site as a dynamic, year-round destination.
