Author, Teacher, and Film Producer Raquel “Raqui” Ramsey Recently Featured on Close Up Radio

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, September 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Doctor Raquel R. Ramsey, popularly known as Raqui, is recognized as an author, a teacher and more recently a film producer. She is a woman with numerous engaging stories to relate, starting with that of her own life. One of these stories is centered on her late husband, a celebrated Colonel in the US Army, who led the last mounted horse calvary charge in modern history and was part of resistance and liberation activities.as the Commander of the Guerilla Forces in East Central Luzon in the Philippines.

Raqui’s beloved Edwin P. Ramsey graduated from the Oklahoma Military Academy and later, after the war, from the University of Oklahoma Law School. The couple was married 34 blissful years before his 2013 demise. Some of the many honors Raquel Ramsey has earned are from telling his story in the documentary Never Surrender: The Ed Ramsey Story. This moving and informative film has won many awards from public and private entities and was on the Oscar short list. It highlights Colonel Ramsey’s extraordinary life and service. It is a tribute to his legacy and a take on the book. LT. RAMSEY’s WAR which was authored by Ed along with Stephen Rivele.

Another life story she tells is that of her sister-in-law, Nadine Ramsey a pioneering World War II female pilot. This work, both a book and a film, preserves the family military history. Taking Flight: The Nadine Ramsey Story was published by University Press of Kansas. It was followed by Doctor Ramsey’s own life recollections in the book called Reflections, an honest and insightful memoir, complete with touching photos and poems.

Coming to the podcast will re-open some old wounds for Mrs. Ramsey but also be an opportunity to tell the story of two historical figures, her husband and her sister-in-law. Even the dates she chose for these conversations have meaning as her son, Doug who worked on the film Taking Flight on September 2 and her husband on December 7th, for Pearl Harbor Day.

Ms. Ramsey served as a central figure in the development and production of the two films as Executive Producer with Vanilla Fire productions. She coordinates viewings and film screenings with museums and military organizations, contributes to affiliated military charities, and speaks at some of the exhibitions. Vanilla Fire had Josh Brolin as narrator of NEVER SURRENDER and Jacqueline Bisset as narrator of TAKING FLIGHT. She says discovering a second career as an executive producer was a learning experience, and a wonderful opportunity to bring historical events to light. She has talked about this at March Women’s history events, at the MacArthur Memorial, and at other museums where Nadine Ramsey’s film airs.

“It’s a charge to carry their legacy. I need more generations to learn about Ramsey’s War and the era of the Cavalry brigades. I have so many artifacts–like an autographed picture of Gen Douglas Macarthur -to Ed as a comrade in arms in my home in West L.A. that it is a bit like a museum.”

Ms. Ramsey’s primary career is just as exciting as her second one was. She taught for more than 50 years at different schools that included The International School in Manila, Yeshiva University High School in Los Angeles and was also a coach of Speech and Debate in Beverly Hills High School and Coordinator of the English as a second Language Program She is an authority in both American and British Literature and has a doctoral degree in Education and Philosophy that she earned at the University of Santo Thomas in Manila. Her teaching and writing accomplishments have led to honors as a master storyteller and being included in Marquis Who’s Who.

Beyond her work-related commitments, Ms. Ramsey is a member of the Military Order of the World Wars, the American Legion, the Philippine Scouts Heritage Society, the U.S. Cavalry Association and the Oklahoma Military Academy (now Rogers State University) She is closely allied with members of Yeshiva University and also is part of Biographers International Inc.

Raquel Ramsey lost her mother at a tender age and took comfort in another mother figure, Mother Mary. She remains a devout Catholic today and over the years, attending church and planning church events together was a central part of her life with The Colonel. She prays for continued health and a successful podcast.
