Tarsadia today announced the launch of Tarsadia Strategic Opportunities (TSO), a dedicated private markets investment platform focused on complex capital and liquidity needs across the private equity ecosystem. Led by Viman Singh, TSO expands the firm’s direct principal-investing capabilities across private markets.
TSO will invest across companies, assets and funds through secondaries, structured capital and partnered investments. The platform will provide flexible capital to sponsors, companies, LPs and other institutional counterparties where complexity, duration mismatch or structural constraints limit conventional capital solutions.
“TSO is a natural extension of how Tarsadia has invested for more than three decades: through fundamental underwriting, direct partnership and conviction,” said Mitchell Caplan, CEO of Tarsadia and former CEO of E*TRADE. “During that time, financial markets have evolved as new structures emerged to meet changing needs, and private markets are undergoing a similar evolution today. As companies stay private longer and fund lives and asset lives increasingly diverge, permanent capital gives us the flexibility to invest across transaction types and support high-quality companies, assets and sponsors through periods of transition and complexity.”
TSO’s mandate spans complex private markets situations requiring flexible, long-duration capital. The platform can invest across the capital structure and transaction lifecycle, with an approach grounded in fundamental underwriting, alignment and a clear path to realization. TSO can size to conviction and hold according to the investment thesis rather than a traditional fund clock.
“We do not underwrite the spread; we underwrite the asset and the people behind it,” said Singh. “Whether the appropriate solution comes through secondaries, structured capital or partnered investments, our work begins with the quality of the business, the sponsor and the value-creation plan. We work alongside GPs and LPs to solve for the underlying constraint, with structure serving the investment thesis rather than defining it. That keeps the focus on alignment around the asset and its path rather than a point-in-time discount.”
Singh brings more than a decade of private equity investing experience across secondaries, structured capital and direct investments, spanning GP, LP and permanent-capital platforms. Before joining Tarsadia, he held investment roles at Goldman Sachs, StepStone and Eldridge, and began his career in M&A investment banking at Wells Fargo Securities.
